My journey
Learning how businesses run
Almost seven years in dealership management software.
I spent almost seven years with a dealership management software provider, working with the accounting and operations systems that dealerships and manufacturers relied on.
That work took me across Thailand, Kuwait, South Africa and Papua New Guinea. I saw how much a software decision depends on the way a business operates, including the people who have to make it work each day.
The lesson I carry into product work is to follow the operation beyond the screen. Who needs the information next? What do they check, and what happens when something is wrong? A change that looks small in the interface can move work onto someone else.
When someone asks for a technical transformation, I start with those handoffs. An existing system often holds rules and workarounds that nobody has written down. We need to understand them before deciding what to keep and what to change.
